Şişecam in Hungary
Our activities in Hungary began with an acquisition in 2013, and the positive experiences in the country played a significant role in prioritizing Hungary when planning a glass packaging production facility investment in Europe. As Şişecam, we laid the foundation for our first glass packaging facility in Europe in 2022 in the city of Kaposvár, Hungary.
Upon completion, this facility, with an annual gross production capacity of 396,000 tons, will enable us to introduce our glass packaging products to the European market more effectively. Equipped with Industry 4.0 and digitization initiatives, this investment will focus on high automation and efficiency.
While the European market constitutes a quarter of the global glass packaging market, it also offers significant opportunities for the rapid development. Hungary, with its strong position in terms of excellent talent pool and logistical advances, Şişecam will be able to meet the glass packaging demands of not only Hungary but also Italy, Germany, the Czech Republic, Austria, Croatia, Poland, Serbia, and Romania.
